La esencia de las cosas The essence of things

A principios de año acudí a un Workshop sobre coolhunting y en él se debatió sobre el papel que tiene ahora lo que hay detrás de una imagen. En moda, cada vez más hay que presentar no solo esa impresión que nos genera determinada firma sino que se exige una historia. En este momento, todo lo que es DIY (Do it Yourself) no es solo una prenda, una agenda, un libro, etc. Hay algo más. Habrá un relato detrás que nos hará partícipes de eso que tenemos entre nuestras manos y que al final nos une al destinatario.

 Un día me dijeron que debía ser la única persona que regalaba música en compacto. En realidad, esas canciones en Itunes reducían su precio en un 90%. No exagero. Sin embargo,  poder curiosear, pasar los dedos por otras carátulas, dudar entre varias opciones y finalmente decidirse por lo que crees que gustará, es impagable.

Quien me conoce habrá recibido ya un libro, un cd, una película o algo que no es lo que parece. Es otra cosa. Es lo que dice lo que llevan sus líneas o lo que esconden sus canciones.A veces, queda como eso. Pero para mí no. Es un poco egoísta.  Lo entrego  porque me sienta bien.

 En un viaje a Oporto, conocí a un chico senegalés que vendía figuras de madera. Era muy simpático y estuvimos charlando una tarde sobre la vida que había llevado hasta llegar al país luso. Resultó que era su cumpleaños y en vez de exigir algo a cambio, me regaló una talla de madera que todavía conservo. Y la veo y me acuerdo de él.

Anyone who knows me will have received a book, a CD, a movie or something that is not what it seems. It is another thing. It is what it says what they wear their lines or hiding their songs.

Sometimes it freezes. But for me there. That's a bit selfish. I give because I feel fine.

  On a trip to Oporto, I met a Senegalese guy who sold wooden figures. He was very nice and we talked one afternoon on the life he had led up to the Portuguese country. Turned out it was her birthday and instead of demanding something in return, gave me a wood carving that I still have. And I see and I remember him.
